The Heart of Asana – 50 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
Dates: January 13–14 and January 20–21, 2027 (8:30am–5pm each day)
This in-depth training explores the practice of asana beyond simply achieving shapes. The Heart of Asana focuses on intelligent movement, functional alignment, and embodied awareness, helping teachers understand how and why we practice yoga postures.

Led by experienced yoga teacher Kelsey Hansen, and physiotherapist Kristine Price, this program bridges modern movement science with the depth of traditional yoga practice. Through lectures, embodied practice, and applied teaching methodology, participants will gain a clearer understanding of how the body moves, how to support different bodies safely, and how to teach asana with precision, confidence, and care.

This training emphasizes thoughtful, well-informed choices in practice and teaching, supporting long-term joint health, stability, and sustainable movement.

Foundations of Intelligent Asana Practice

Anatomy and Biomechanics for Yoga Teachers
• Practical anatomy for yoga teaching
• Deepening a basic understanding of joints, range of motion, and healthy movement patterns
• Recognizing common compensations and strain in yoga postures
• Applying biomechanical understanding to common yoga poses

Functional Alignment and Skillful Cueing
• Developing clear and effective alignment cues
• Teaching students how to feel and understand their own bodies
• Using props and variations to support accessibility and safety
• Observing and responding to different body types and needs

Embodied Awareness in Asana
• Cultivating internal awareness rather than external performance
• Using breath and attention to support mindful movement
• Exploring strength, stability, and ease within postures
• Encouraging students to practice with curiosity and intelligence

Teaching Application and Practice
• Practicing teaching alignment and movement concepts
• Sequencing with anatomical and energetic awareness

Learning Outcomes for Yoga Teachers

Prerequisite: 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Certification
Schedule & Format
• Dates: January 16-17 and January 23-24, 2027
• Daily schedule: 8:30am–5pm
• Total certification: 50 hours
• Format: lecture, embodied practice, demonstration, teaching application and final assignment

Registration & Tuition
• $850 + tax
• Participants receive a printed training manual
• Eligible for Yoga Alliance continuing education hours (CEUs)
