Whether you aspire to become a yoga instructor or are simply seeking to deepen your personal practice, Ekatra’s School of Traditional Yoga offers a transformative and enriching journey that meets you where you are. Rooted in the timeless wisdom of classical yoga and thoughtfully designed to awaken inspiration and integrity, our teacher training programs provide a nurturing and supportive environment for learning, growth, and meaningful connection.

Through a blend of traditional teachings, embodied practice, and self-inquiry, our immersive programs are designed to challenge and expand your capacity- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. You’ll be equipped not only with the foundational skills and confidence to practice and teach with clarity and purpose, but also with tools to navigate your own inner path with greater awareness and depth. This is more than a training; it is a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and lifelong learning.

TRAINING AND CURRICULUM

  • Asana (postures): Including alignment, review of postures, modifications, teaching cues, considerations, what to look for when teaching

  • Anatomy: Understanding the body in Yoga, including anatomy, physiology and the biomechanics of Yoga

  • Teaching Methodology: The art of designing a class, creating an atmosphere, setting a theme, developing structure, sequencing and communication

  • History and Philosophy: A deep discovery of the history of Yoga, and the lineage and paths of Yoga. Exploring and becoming familiar with how this relates to major Yogic texts, such as Yoga Sutras, 8 Limbs of Yoga, Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita and more.

  • Modern Yoga: A study of the styles of Yoga that have evolved from the ancient tradition, exploring the elements of teaching in different ways, while still honouring the roots in which they came.

  • Subtle Body and Energetics: Pranayama, Mantras, Kriyas, the Bhandas, the Chakra system, Ayurveda and the Gunas

  • Meditation- an understanding of key principles, styles and techniques, as well as an appreciation for the stages of meditation

  • Living Yoga and the Ethics of Teaching- the value of integrating the principles of Yoga into every aspect of your life

  • Trauma Informed: Learn the basics of teaching an inclusive class that supports a safe experience for all.

  • Teaching Practicum and Feedback from lead trainers

  • Navigating the business of Yoga

Location: Wellness Within, St Albert  -  Sky Studio

Saturdays: 8:30am-5pm    

Sundays: 9-4:30pm

Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if cancelled 60 days or more prior to start

  • No refund if cancelled less than 60 days prior to start

 

Payment direction is shared after your application is approved.

All applicants are required to connect directly with our Lead Trainer, Kelsey Hansen, prior to confirming their space. The purpose of this is to answer any questions you may have, and to ensure that our offering is a good fit for what you’re seeking in a YTT program.
