Meditation and Mindfulness Yoga Teacher Training

Dates: October 17–18, 2026 (Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am–5pm)

This immersive yoga teacher training explores the foundations of meditation and mindfulness within the context of traditional yoga. Through lecture, guided practice, discussion, and reflective inquiry, participants will develop both a personal relationship with meditation and the skills to guide others with clarity, presence, and confidence.

Grounded in classical yogic philosophy and supported by practical teaching methodology, this training explores meditation as an embodied practice of attention, awareness, and inner steadiness. Teachers will learn how to skillfully introduce meditation into yoga classes, workshops, and dedicated meditation offerings while honouring the depth of the tradition.

Training Modules

Foundations of Meditation in Yoga
• Understanding meditation within the classical yoga tradition
• Distinguishing mindfulness, concentration, and meditation
• The role of attention, awareness, and witnessing consciousness
• Common obstacles in meditation and how to work skillfully with them

Embodied Mindfulness Practices
• Foundational mindfulness techniques including breath awareness and body awareness
• Cultivating present-moment awareness in both stillness and gentle movement
• Developing sensitivity to internal experience without striving or judgment
• Supporting students in building sustainable meditation practices

Teaching Meditation with Skill and Clarity
• Structuring and guiding meditation practices in a yoga class setting
• Language, pacing, and tone for meditation instruction
• Supporting different student experiences and learning styles
• Integrating short meditation practices into asana-based classes

Integration with Yogic Philosophy
• Meditation within the framework of the Eight Limbs of Yoga
• The relationship between prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra, dhāraṇā, and dhyāna
• Cultivating inner steadiness and clarity through sustained practice
• Honouring the philosophical roots of meditation while teaching in modern contexts

Reflection, Practice Teaching & Integration
• Practicing guiding short meditation sequences
• Exploring common student challenges and questions
• Developing confidence in leading meditation for individuals and groups
• Establishing a personal meditation practice to support authentic teaching

 

Learning Outcomes for Yoga Teachers

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Understand the philosophical foundations of meditation within the yoga tradition
• Guide accessible mindfulness and meditation practices with clarity and confidence
• Integrate meditation into yoga classes in a thoughtful and supportive way
• Support students through common meditation challenges such as restlessness or distraction
• Cultivate and maintain a personal meditation practice to inform authentic teaching

• CEUs: 25 hours (in-person intensive)
• Format: Lecture, guided meditation, discussion, reflective practice, practice teaching and final asssignment
